Manchester Cancer user involvement event, Monday 23rd June

Monday 23rd June 2014 10.30am-4pm

Venue to be confirmed but it will be a Central Manchester location.

Manchester Cancer is a new partnership of all of the NHS hospitals that treat cancer patients in Greater Manchester and East Cheshire. They have come together to improve the outcomes from and experience of cancer care across the region.

Manchester Cancer and Macmillan Cancer Support are delighted to invite you to an event to explore and agree upon how best to involve patients and carers in the work of Manchester Cancer.

During the course of the event Dead Earnest, a forum theatre company engaged by Macmillan, will present user a series of involvement scenarios based on feedback from local patients, carers and professionals. They will then use audience participation and feedback to rework and refine them. Some of the themes we will explore before moving on to agree a firm plan for the future are:

·           What does good user involvement look like?

·           How does it work effectively?

·           What are, and have been, the barriers and enablers to achieving it?

The day will be chaired by Sir Neil McKay, Independent Chair of the Manchester Cancer Provider Board. It will bring together all of Manchester Cancer's clinical leaders with user representatives from across Greater Manchester, the Manchester Cancer core team, and colleagues from Macmillan and the Strategic Clinical Network. Your input is essential to ensure that the day reflects the experiences of all parties who are invested in achieving good user involvement across Manchester Cancer.

Please register by contacting Charlotte Billington on cbillington@macmillan.org.uk or by calling 0207 840 7808 by no later than 16th May. Upon registration please let us know any dietary, mobility, translation or hearing loop requirements. New 4G Mobile Services and help for Freeview viewers

This year will see the arrival of new 4G mobile services across the UK. These services may cause problems with your TV reception, leading to loss of sound, blocky images or loss of some or all Freeview channels. Only those who watch Freeview will be affected; you’re unlikely to experience any issues if you watch cable or satellite TV.

Before 4G is switched on in your area, at800, the organisation created to make sure UK viewers can still watch Freeview, will write to you if you might be affected.  You may also receive an at800 filter - free of charge. This connects between your TV aerial and your TV, set-top box or signal booster. The filter is smaller than a pack of cards and in most cases will enable you to continue watching Freeview as normal.

You should be able to fit the filter yourself but if you or any of your users have any problems, here is the helpline number: 0333 31 31 800.

visitwww.at800.tvfor more information.
