Culturally appropriate food support, led by Manchester's Global Majority Communities
This project brings together around 30+ Global Majority organisations across Manchester and Greater Manchester to help its members provide culturally appropriate food support to their beneficiaries and communities in a variety of ways, including hot meals, food parcels, food banks and pantries.
Rafiki was set up during the COVID-19 pandemic to help people who were struggling to access the foods that matter to them culturally.
The network keeps members connected through a dedicated WhatsApp group, where we share updates and signpost to funding and other opportunities. When we can, we also host capacity-building sessions and networking events.
In recent years, we have been lucky enough to also deliver a grant programme on behalf of Manchester City Council, providing small grants for organisations to spend on cultural food items. Most of these grants have been ring-fenced for Rafiki members who support Global Majority communities.
If you are interested in joining the Rafiki Cultural Food Network please email admin@manchesterbmenetwork.co.uk for a membership application form
